(2017) – kinetic art & big data

Cinética is an installation that materializes human mobility in the city of Nantes.

This kinetic installation makes it possible to visualize the movement and activity of the city thanks to user movement data, collected and analyzed from their smartphone. Through this, the viewer can visualize urban activity but also his own activity and his movements in the city, by comparing it with that of other users.

Mobility in urban space is represented by LED bars, which rotate according to the activity of people, illustrating the movement in the city (flows and directions, geolocation and different states of mobility). At the frontiers of design, art and technology, Cinética offers a powerful look and a tangible perception of ourselves as "mobile beings" in an ultra-connected society by making the invisible visible.
